Zest has designated 2007 as the year that it places it’s greatest emphasis on the further development of all of it’s employees. Whether it’s NVQ’s to Fast Track Management Development programmes, personal achievement via individually created training programmes is what Zest has chosen to champion this year. ‘Our greatest asset is our workforce and therefore that is where we have chosen to make our most significant investment this year. We have some truly dedicated, passionate caterers and service providers in the company at every level and we want to ensure that they get every opportunity to enhance their skills and grow with the business’
‘Digest’
Zest launches it’s first edition of a new quarterly Magazine. ‘Digest’ is made up of articles written by its employees, about its employees and what they get up to! A vehicle for sharing news and views about what is happening at the sharp end of the business it was the brainchild of Andy MacDonald, Chef Manager at Barry Callebaut. The Magazine is Free to all employees and if you have not made a literary contribution so far, be advised that they are already collecting articles for the second edition – so please get scribbling!
Managers Benefit from 21st Century Technology
E Procurement is due to come on line in March 2007. Scheduled to be introduced in three phases, this latest development of the ‘Paragon’ software system means that Chef Managers get to order their goods when it’s convenient to them – no more phone calls to respond to during the middle of Breakfast or Lunch service! No more invoices to reconcile either as these will take an electronic format that eradicates the need for the usual paper trail. Result – Catering Managers at Zest get more time to concentrate on preparing great fresh food and looking after their customers!
Zest launches it’s first education contract in partnership with NEW College across two campus’s in Bromsgrove and Redditch! Serving 12,000 students in the recently launched eden café’s, it offers a wide range of services from the fig leaf deli-bars with their web based queue busting, easy ordering system called the virtual deli! Or alternatively there is the sixth form snake pit or the tree of knowledge retail shop. Whatever the choice Jacob Perry – Catering Manager and his team have a lot on their plate as they appear to have doubled the turnover in the space of just two terms and have climbed to 1st position in the student Spock Report from last years 8th place! Well Done One & All!
